This is a senior, cross-functional role responsible for building Prose’s external presence, protecting its reputation, and deepening relationships with the media, creator, and partner communities that shape how customers discover and trust the brand. This role will manage three direct relationships: our PR agency, SEO/LLM agency, and our Community Manager. You will work closely with Brand, Growth, Social, and Product teams to ensure communications efforts are integrated, on-brand, and driving measurable results. The ideal candidate is a seasoned communications leader who brings deep PR instincts, crisis-readiness, a strong influencer network, and a genuine curiosity about how content and AI search are reshaping brand visibility. You are equally comfortable pitching a journalist, coaching an agency, briefing a creator, and analyzing LLM citation data. Key Responsibilities PR & Earned Media - Own the earned media strategy for Prose, driving consistent, high-quality coverage across beauty, wellness, lifestyle, and business press - Manage the day-to-day relationship with PR agency, including strategy alignment, execution, performance management, and budget oversight - Support media relations in partnership with the agency where needed, e.g. trade outreach, etc. - Develop and maintain relationships with key journalists, editors, and media contacts across target verticals - Oversee spokesperson preparation, including talking points, interview prep, and executive visibility programming - Oversee thought leadership strategy for Prose leadership across earned channels - Oversee the awards and industry recognition calendar, identifying and submitting for relevant opportunities - Lead internal crisis communications: serve as the first point of contact for reputation issues, develop reactive statements and holding positions, and coordinate cross-functional response across PR, Social, Community, CX and Legal - Monitor the media and cultural landscape for emerging risks, opportunities, and brand-relevant moments Influencer - Own Prose’s influencer strategy, with a focus on performance and organic micro and mid-tier creators whose audiences and values authentically align with the brand - Build and manage a curated creator network, developing scalable processes for identification, outreach, onboarding, and relationship management - Brief, manage, and evaluate influencer content ensuring quality, authenticity, and brand alignment - Develop clear performance criteria and leverage tools including CreatorIQ and Nectar Social to track, analyze, and report on influencer program effectiveness - Partner with Growth to identify high-performing influencer content for amplification through paid channels - Identify creator voices that can support co-branded activations and partnership moments SEO, LLM Visibility & Content - Lead Prose’s LLM visibility and generative search (GEO) strategy, ensuring the brand is accurately and favorably represented in AI-generated responses across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and similar platforms - Oversee the brand blog strategy and editorial calendar, ensuring content serves both SEO and brand storytelling objectives - Track and report AI citation presence, and content health metrics, translating data into strategic recommendations Partnerships, Events & Community - Identify and activate a select portfolio of brand partnerships that reinforce Prose’s positioning and expand reach with relevant audiences - Manage partnership negotiations, contracts, and deliverables in collaboration with Legal and Finance - Oversee community brand moments and events, from intimate customer experiences and creator gatherings to broader brand activations, ensuring alignment with PR and influencer objectives - Manage Community Manager, providing strategic direction on community engagement, brand response, and community health across platforms - Partner with Social and Brand teams to ensure community insights and partnership activity are reflected in broader campaign planning Key Qualifications - 10–12 years of experience across PR, communications, influencer, or a closely related field, with demonstrated growth in scope and seniority - Experience in beauty, wellness, personal care, or a premium DTC/subscription brand strongly preferred - Proven track record managing PR agencies and driving earned media results across a full editorial calendar - Strong media relationships and direct experience in media relations, spokesperson management, and thought leadership programming - Crisis communications experience: able to assess, escalate, and manage reputation issues with composure and speed - Hands-on influencer management experience, including creator identification, briefing, and performance evaluation using tools such as CreatorIQ - Familiarity with SEO fundamentals and a working understanding of LLM/AI search visibility and generative engine optimization (GEO) - Experience managing agency partners across multiple disciplines simultaneously, including scoping, performance management, and budget oversight - People management experience with a demonstrated ability to develop and support direct reports - Data-informed approach to communications measurement, with experience defining and reporting on KPIs across earned, influencer, and content channels - Fluency with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini) as part of everyday workflows for research, ideation, and content development - Passion for hair, beauty, or wellness and a genuine enthusiasm for building authentic brand presence Perks & Benefits Prose fosters inclusivity, learning, and diversity within our teams and workplace.
