Android Automation Engineer

Sutherland

• Develop, execute, and maintain automated tests to ensure robust coverage for new features and releases. • Partner with Android product engineering teams to improve testability and integrate testing into development workflows. • Continuously improve testing strategy, tooling, and processes to raise quality and release confidence. • Build, maintain, and support testing infrastructure, environments, tools, and applications using distributed systems expertise. • Improve reliability, performance, and scalability of test frameworks and automation pipelines. • Make architectural trade-offs and apply design patterns to support a highly-available 24x7 ecosystem. • Lead projects, define roadmaps, and drive cross-collaboration across multiple engineering teams. • Influence engineering decisions with partners across design, product, data science, and research.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of mobile development experience, or 2+ years with a PhD in a fast-paced, high-growth tech environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Java, and Espresso.
  • Proven experience building test automation frameworks and infrastructure for Android applications at large scale.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve testability through architecture, tooling, and engineering best practices.
  • Experience developing or testing distributed systems and platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of building reliable systems in highly-available production-like environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Hands-on technical leadership: leading projects, shaping strategy, and defining roadmaps.
