Role Description We are currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our growing A/E team in Kent, WA. In this role, you will work directly with our Lead Mechanical Engineer and department leaders across the firm. - Design building mechanical systems (HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection) for various commercial and federal projects. - Your typical day will include: - Design calculations - Building code and industry standards review - Meetings with clients - Internal design team meetings - Coordination with an interdisciplinary team - Join a mechanical team aiming to exceed client design expectations while delivering projects on time. - Shape high-impact projects that improve critical infrastructure and public-sector facilities across the United States. Qualifications - Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s Degree preferred). - Minimum 8+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems. - Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. - Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present ideas clearly to both clients and teams. - Proven analytical and critical-thinking abilities to support design development and problem-solving. - Strong knowledge of design and coordination tools. - Understanding of applicable codes, building standards, and effective space planning strategies. - Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to contributing to a collaborative and inclusive studio culture. - Experience with Revit and AutoCAD. - Experience with HVAC load calculation software. - Trace 3D experience is a plus. - Familiarity with state and federal codes and industry standards. - Leadership or management experience is a plus. Requirements - Perform mechanical design tasks, including: - HVAC load calculations - Verifying compliance with building code, energy codes, and various standards - Design calculations - Space planning and equipment layouts - Designing ductwork and piping systems - Specification editing and review - Visit project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions. - Coordinate with internal staff and external consultants to develop cohesive, technically sound solutions. - Perform Mechanical QA/QC reviews. - Provide construction support services: submittal/RFI reviews, site visits, punch lists, and progress checks. Job Requirements
