Kubernetes Platform Engineer
BridgePhase
• Design, deploy, and operate highly available, scalable, and secure Kubernetes clusters and supporting infrastructure. • Develop and maintain a consumable platform of open-source, cloud-native applications and tooling for mission software teams. • Build and enhance automation frameworks to streamline platform deployment, upgrades, and day-to-day operations. • Collaborate with development teams to architect and support CI/CD pipelines and workflows for containerized applications. • Implement and enforce Kubernetes security best practices, including RBAC, network policies, secret management, and security hardening. • Support complex Kubernetes use cases, including edge deployments and environments with intermittent connectivity. • Perform capacity planning, resource optimization, and performance tuning to ensure efficient platform utilization. • Partner with security teams to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities through audits and continuous improvement. • Evaluate emerging Kubernetes features, tools, and technologies, recommending enhancements to improve platform reliability and usability. • Document platform architectures, configurations, and operational procedures to support knowledge sharing and long-term sustainability.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including deploying, managing, and scaling containerized workloads.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes architecture and core components such as pods, services, deployments, replica sets, and namespaces.
- Proficiency with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform).
- Strong Linux/Unix systems administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Experience deploying and operating applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Solid understanding of networking, storage, and security concepts as they apply to Kubernetes environments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI) and version control systems such as Git.
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting in Kubernetes environments (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.
- Experience operating Kubernetes clusters in production or multi-tenant environments is a plus.

Imgix is hiring a senior engineer for our Core Infrastructure team. We sit at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and reliability. This role writes production-quality software, builds, operates, and monitors the systems that run it, and improves them over time. In this role, the ideal candidate will design, build, and maintain caching, rendering, delivery and other infrastructure. They will leverage tools like Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, and operate services in Google Cloud Platform. The candidate will design in consideration of failure modes, and bring a pragmatic, security aware mindset to everything they build and participate in a rotating on-call schedule. This role is ideal for someone who thinks like a software engineer but is comfortable owning production systems end-to-end. The candidate should be equally at home writing maintainable code, reviewing code written by others, debugging production incidents, and improving systems that cause them. This candidate does not simply keep things running, they improve them and mitigate failures before they occur. What you’ll be doing: Design, develop, and maintain high-uptime cloud-native services including our core visual media rendering service. Create new features/services that enhance and evolve our existing offerings. Collaborate across Engineering to build infrastructure tools that support building cloud services more efficiently and automating repetitive tasks. Own and influence cloud cost optimization efforts by collaborating with vendors and teammates, exercising sound judgment to balance reliability, performance, and cost. Lead and develop strategies to continuously measure and improve the performance, efficiency, and reliability of our services and maintain better than 99.99% uptime for billions of requests per day. Manage and champion the development of cloud infrastructure in accordance with industry standard security practices. Partner with teammates for on-call duties including troubleshooting, incident remediation, and investigating root cause. Create and promote comprehensive documentation in the form of run books and design documents.
