Role Description We are seeking two energetic, relationship-driven Community Outreach Specialist (Part Time) to help connect families with high-quality public charter school options across Washington, DC. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting new people, working in the community, and making a meaningful impact in children’s lives. - Canvass neighborhoods and community spaces such as daycare centers, aftercare programs, churches, grocery stores, beauty salons, and community events - Build relationships with local leaders and community partners - Engage families in warm, authentic conversations about their children’s education - Share information about school programs, enrollment, and upcoming events - Collect family contact information and support follow-up communication - Assist with event outreach and on-site recruitment - Provide weekly updates on outreach efforts and results - Collaborate with the Recruitment and Engagement team to meet enrollment goals Qualifications - Naturally connects with people and builds trust quickly - Confident, approachable, and professional - Enjoys being out in the community and talking to families - Organized and can follow through on interest - Comfortable working independently - Passionate about education, equity, and serving families - Can communicate clearly and enthusiastically - Reliable, accountable, and motivated by goals - Culturally responsive and respectful of diverse communities Requirements - Warm but persistent (friendly without being pushy) - Resilient and not discouraged by rejection - Curious and a great listener - Self-motivated and able to manage time without constant supervision - Solution-oriented and adaptable - Detail-oriented with strong follow-up habits - Positive, upbeat, and community-centered Compensation $20 - $22 an hour Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the functions. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high.
