Invoca is seeking a visionary Software Architect to provide strategic and technical leadership for our Data and AI initiatives. You will be instrumental in defining the technical vision and driving the evolution of how we manage our customers' structured and unstructured data, and how we apply cutting-edge, value-adding AI. What You Will Do - Lead Technical Vision and Mentorship: Serve as our most senior technical expert, working across teams to provide technical guidance, direction, and mentorship to engineers. - Drive Strategic Roadmap: Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering leaders across AI and Data Platforms to build and execute customer-facing roadmaps with a strong, scalable technical foundation. - Champion Best Practices: Introduce outside experience and perspectives in modern data architecture and emerging technologies to drive the adoption of organization-wide best practices and design patterns. - Solve High-Impact Challenges: Architect and lead solutions for complex, high-scale problems, including: - Applying machine learning to conversations at high scale in an event-driven architecture. - Expanding our usage of agentic AI across internal and external products by establishing standard data models and a robust data platform. - Accelerating our transition from a monolith to a service-oriented architecture, enabling teams to operate with greater autonomy and speed. - Be Hands-On: Engage in hands-on development of critical and/or complex portions of the solutions you architect, ensuring quality and alignment with the vision. - Foster a Learning Culture: Share your passion for technical topics and continuous learning with your teams and peers. - Contribute to DEI: Actively support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at Invoca. - Reporting: Report to the Sr Director of Architecture, who reports to the CTO. Qualifications - Extensive Experience: 15+ years of professional software development experience, ideally within a high-growth SaaS environment, with a significant focus on data and AI/ML systems. - Technical Expertise: Proven experience with core technologies, including or highly similar to: - Programming languages: Ruby, Python, Javascript. - Data/Stream Processing: MySQL, Kafka, and ETL tools. - Infrastructure as Code & Cloud: Terraform, Docker, and Kubernetes. - Data Lakehouses: Experience with platforms such as Databricks or Snowflake. - Architectural Mastery: Advanced knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, Contract-Driven Development, Distributed Systems, and Data Modeling. - Leadership & Communication: A systematic problem-solver with exceptional communication skills, a deep sense of ownership, and a track record of driving complex projects to completion. - Track Record of Success: Extensive experience leading technical projects, maintaining features in production with continuous deployment, and driving prioritization with a strong customer-focused mindset. - Mentorship: Experience in mentoring and leveling up software engineers. - Design Philosophy: A strong desire to create elegant, scalable, and maintainable services and tools. - Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent practical experience required.
