Role Description The Data department is responsible for ensuring high quality Data and Reporting services are delivered to the Ayvens UK business by designing, implementing, monitoring and evolving robust, secure and cost-effective solutions for the organisation. Incorporating Data Management, Operations, Storage, Engineering, Science, Analytics and Governance. As part of our evolution we currently seeking a Solaris OS Administrator to support and provide this expertise. - Perform Solaris/Linux administrative duties. - Maintain a high level of availability as required by the business. - Perform duties relating to these servers (including capacity planning, monitoring, patching). - Coordinates system performance monitoring and system updates. - Oversees the compliance to IT policies and security standards. - Support any internal or external auditing to ensure robustness of these key areas. Key Accountabilities - Install, create and maintain all servers in line with Industry Best practices. - Ensure that servers maintain acceptable levels of performance, integrity and security in line with agreed organisational standards. - System monitoring and troubleshooting issues in a timely manner to ensure provision of services within SLA. - Perform Capacity planning, upgrades, migrations and patching of servers. - Provide recommendations when required as to suitable design of the servers. - Establish the needs of users and monitor user access and security. - Work with the business to provide server solutions as necessary. - Provide on-call support as required. - Set an example as a team player, respectful of others in the organisation and maintain a focus on overall business objectives, contributing towards a productive and healthy working environment. - Maintain the highest level of confidentiality, housekeeping and to ensure that personal behaviour and attitude reflects the essence of the organisation and its core values. - Undertake relevant training as required. - Ensure compliance with approved organisation, statutory and regulatory policies/procedures. Qualifications - Certified or equivalent experience. - 5+ years Solaris/Linux Administration. - Show experience of working alongside Oracle DBAs. - Extensive experience in server installation, administration and security. - Solid foundation in sizing, capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning. - Thorough understanding of optimisation and performance tuning. - Excellent understanding of deploying Oracle databases within Solaris/Linux. - Excellent understanding of ZFS. - Excellent understanding of Solaris Zones. - Excellent understanding of iLOM/XSCF. - Excellent understanding of shell scripts. - Highly competent in Microsoft Office Tools. - Develop others by sharing own experience and expertise. - Significant experience in recent OS versions. TEHORA is currently seeking an Oracle Database Administrator to contribute to the administration, maintenance, evolution, and optimization of Oracle databases. The successful candidate may be assigned on-demand engagements within a complex, cloud-oriented technology environment. Without being exhaustive, the services and deliverables the successful candidate will be expected to provide include: • Administer and maintain Oracle databases; • Ensure data security, integrity, availability, and performance; • Participate in Oracle migration activities, ideally in a Windows environment; • Collaborate on initiatives to facilitate migration to the cloud; • Document physical models and update tables when required; • Write installation guides and all relevant technical documentation; • Perform monitoring activities necessary for smooth operations; • Diagnose incidents, propose fixes, and support IT teams.
• Administer PostgreSQL databases • Perform quality assurance and support the development of data models • Act as a performance, data operations and connection-management consultant • Advise teams on SQL query optimization • Contribute to the development of SQL coding rules and naming conventions • Create base schemas or containers in on-premises or cloud environments • Support the development of scripts for provisioning, updating or deploying database environments • Monitor cloud database service consumption and advise on cost optimization
