Role Description Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Platform Engineering team. This role will sit in either our Runtime/Compute or the Developer Experience/CICD squad. As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will work across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling. You will work closely with Product Engineering, Security, Infrastructure IT, and other platform teams to build, enhance, and support our developer platform. You will help define standards and best practices, and act as a force multiplier for engineering teams by improving reliability, scalability, and developer productivity. What You’ll Do - Own and deliver medium-to-large platform projects from implementation through production - Build and maintain internal platform services and tooling that improve developer experience and delivery velocity - Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with developer needs - Drive cloud cost efficiency and optimization across our cloud and infrastructure - Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response - Help evolve CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based workflows - Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response Qualifications - 5–7 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering - Proficiency with Python and Java. Familiarity with Kotlin, Go a plus - Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge - Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience - Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform) - Strong AWS and cloud-native experience - Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems - Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver defined projects independently - Clear communication and strong collaboration skills Nice to Have - Experience with internal developer platforms or tooling - Exposure to regulated or high-availability environments - Backend development experience (Java, Python, Go, or similar) - Familiarity with observability and reliability engineering practices Working Across Regions This role operates in a globally distributed environment, working closely with teams across the UK, Ireland, and the United States. This is a three-month project engagement. - Provide hands-on engineering support for an internal audit and code-modification platform; - Execute against an existing backlog and deliver tactical platform improvements; - Improve system reliability, observability, and operational visibility; - Support telemetry, logging, debugging, and run management processes; - Enhance the developer experience for reviewing AI-generated merge requests using Python; - Support system maintenance, operational improvements, and GitLab CI/CD pipeline execution; - Work with LLM-powered and agentic workflows, ensuring reliability and usability; - Support internal engineering teams and platform users; - Improve the reliability, visibility, and usability of the current platform; - Contribute to code review workflows, automated remediation processes, and platform enhancements. Qualifications - 5+ years of experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, merge request workflows, and pipeline debugging; - Senior-level backend or platform engineering experience, ideally with Python; - Experience working with LLM, prompt-driven, or agentic workflows, including input/output validation and deterministic execution patterns; - Strong understanding of observability, including logging, telemetry, debugging, run tracking, and operational visibility; - Experience supporting internal developer tools or platforms used by multiple engineering teams; - Ability to execute tactical improvements independently without requiring extensive direction or re-architecture; - Comfortable reviewing and improving generated code changes, codemods, and automated merge requests; - Strong communication skills for supporting internal engineering customers and translating use cases into implementation work; - Upper-intermediate English level. Requirements - Experience building or maintaining developer experience tooling for code review, audits, or automated remediation; - Familiarity with GitHub or GitLab extensions, repository audits, or large-scale source-code analysis; - Experience with codemod frameworks or automated code transformation across large codebases; - Experience optimizing LLM token usage, cost tracking, and per-job reporting; - Knowledge of MCP, internal orchestration systems, or agent gateway patterns; - Prior experience supporting centralized engineering platforms used across multiple product teams. • Architect and implement scalable, secure, and cloud-native solutions on Azure • Lead design and development of CI/CD pipelines using Terraform • Partner with Digital Technology Platform Engineer for Azure landing zone definition • Support workload consolidation onto Azure and observability stack build-out • Build and operate Azure platform for integration-heavy workloads • Support reconciliation and financial close workloads • Collaborate with integration developers to deliver production-ready services • Establish and operate Azure observability stack • Build FinOps foundations on Azure • Conduct architecture and code reviews

• Own and evolve AWS infrastructure. • Maintain Kubernetes platform health. • Partner with development teams to improve deployment pipelines. • Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and telemetry pipelines. • Support distributed Linux-based hardware deployed in the field. • Troubleshoot connectivity and network issues. • Own and improve Terraform and Terraform Cloud codebases. • Treat the platform as a product and build opinionated workflows.
