DomainTools is seeking a Technical Writer to join our Engineering Organization. As a Technical Writing specialist, you will be instrumental in developing and refining our product and internal documentation. You will dive deep into our technology, collaborating closely with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and testing functionality firsthand to create content that is not only intuitive for our users but also structured for comprehension by emerging AI technologies. If you are passionate about learning, technology, and customer success, this role offers a unique opportunity to shape how people interact with our products. At DomainTools, you will work as part of a collaborative team of smart and engaged engineers. This role requires a self-starter who can work with multiple projects and teams. You will need to manage priorities across projects and keep product management updates with the status of content. Job Responsibilities:  - Create and refine technical content: Under the direction of your manager or a Senior Technical Writer, you will write, edit, and maintain high-quality documentation, including user guides, API references, and internal knowledge-base articles. - Collaborate across teams: You will partner directly with engineers, product managers, and customer-facing teams to gather information, understand user needs, and ensure technical accuracy. - Engage in hands-on product testing: You will actively use and test the product as part of the documentation process, ensuring our guides are not just technically correct but also practical and user-centric. - Support internal documentation: You will contribute to team-specific documentation and process improvements that enhance our team's efficiency and impact.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills: Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication, in multiple genres. Writing and editing samples required.
  • Technical background and enthusiasm: A background in technology, through education and/or experience. Demonstrated experience and passion in using, and ideally documenting, software-based technical systems.
  • Experience writing user-centric technical content: Demonstrated experience authoring user-centric technical documentation for technical audiences. The topic doesn’t have to be cybersecurity, but you should understand how it relates.
  • Experience with the following tools:
  • ticketing systems (e.g. Jira)
  • wikis (e.g. Confluence)
  • versioning platforms (e.g. GitLab).
  • GenAI (e.g. Gemini Code Assist)
  • markup languages (e.g. markdown, HTML, AsciiDoc)
  • Pluses
  • Experience with a programming language and code editors (e.g. VSCode)
  • Interest or experience with computer networking or Internet security
