Accounting Analyst

• Responsible to review and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations as prepared by the Global Staff Accountant to lower risk and ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance • Responsible to review and approve medium to high risk journal entries as prepared by the Global Staff Accountant • Act as the escalation point of contact for the Sysco entities on the balance sheet accounts assigned • Overall responsibility for month-end task list, including BPC reporting packages for financial consolidation, on assigned accounts and entities to ensure all period close activities are completed on time and accurately • Regularly attend key stakeholder meetings to discuss open risks and develop action plans to resolve • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures • Develops and performs analytics on key accounts to drive resolution, create efficiencies in reviews, provide entity wide visibility, and reduce overall risk. • Responsible for understanding and applying the Financial & Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM) and suggesting additions and/or updates where necessary • Support internal and external audit requests • Review and provide feedback to the SBS Global team regarding Reconciliations, Journal Entries and other assigned tasks • Review and approve SOPs prepared by Global Staff Accountants; ensure the accuracy of current SOPs and assist Global Staff Accountants to revise if needed • Mentor new Accounting Analysts at SBS and Staff Accountants at SBS Global team members on Sysco Accounting processes and culture • Suggest process improvements and works with upstream process owners to streamline the end-to-end processes • Support the Accounting Team Lead on overall team management where necessary • Complete special projects as necessary • Ensures adherence to department goals/metrics, Internal Audit reports, and SLAs.

Job Requirements

  • 5 years Accounting or related experience required
  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and reconcile reports
  • Ability to find & resolve discrepancies
  • Able to work cross-functionally to solve problems
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and specialized accounting / finance software
  • ERP Systems (i.e., workday)

Role Description This unique position focuses on compliance with local fiscal requirements, support of the annual external audit(s), accounting support of local operations, and other country-specific financial business requirements. This role will require a significant amount of collaboration with others outside the core team. The position affords the right candidate the opportunity to work closely with various Finance support teams, Client Services, Supply Chain Operations, our external customers and business partners as well as the ability to design, implement, and optimize accounting processes for our in-country programs. The candidate must be customer-centric and self-sufficient to proficiently balance the demands of delivering short-term results while helping steer the Company toward long-term business objectives. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Lead a team (1-2 people) in Mexico to support the business and related accounting needs. - Oversee the process around monthly revenue reporting, invoicing, and cash flows as well as coordination with related external parties. - Work with third party providers to ensure revenue invoices are prepared according to legislated formats and methods. - Ensure all purchase and sales activity is reported accurately and timely in local books (e.g. through the maintenance of invoice logs, collaboration with business partners, etc.). - Own the relationship with our local accountants and provide the necessary financial data, reports, and support files for the preparation of local GAAP financials and tax returns. - Perform monthly variance analysis between U.S. and local books and proactively identify and address any inconsistencies. - Own the support requested for the statutory audit process, including coordination with the local accountants and independent execution and maintenance of specific reconciliations, detailed analysis, etc. - Act as a subject matter expert related to local GAAP accounting and fiscal topics and their internal controls. - Establish and maintain meaningful relationships with business partners, both in-person (where possible) and remotely. - Research and resolve all internal and external customer inquiries in a timely manner, while understanding root causes, addressing any discrepancies, and escalating issues as appropriate. - Demonstrate ownership of accounting processes and proactively identify opportunities for optimization or risk mitigation. - Enhance efficiency and accuracy through process automation and continuous improvement initiatives. - Other miscellaneous processes, as needed, to support a dynamic, growing business. Qualifications - Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting. - Fluent in Spanish and English (B2+ proficiency). - Requires a proficiency level typically attained with 6+ years of professional experience related to accounting and fiscal requirements in Mexico, preferably including time with a US multinational. - Detailed knowledge and experience working with local GAAP and local tax code. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Microsoft Excel skills needed for large data sets, exposure to ERP systems, and general systems aptitude. - Demonstrated superior analytical skills, strong problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. - Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and see projects through to completion with minimal oversight. - Proficient communication skills to effectively work with external and internal business partners and handle sensitive and/or confidential communications. - Team player with a positive attitude and a strong work ethic. - Proven record of successful productivity in remote environment, including increased responsibilities and successes.
