Growth & Lifecycle Marketer
Activate TalentWe are a dynamic company focused on leveraging data to drive business insights and improve performance across retail and eCommerce channels.
Position: Growth & Lifecycle Marketer Location: Remote (Global) Employment Type: Full-Time Type of contract: Independent contractor 🌎 Work from any corner of the world and be a part of the #remoteworkrevolution!‼️ About us: We are a mentorship marketplace connecting consumer brand founders with 500+ top operators, founders, and executives across DTC and retail. Our mentors have built some of the fastest-growing brands in the industry, and our mentees are building the next wave. We’ve grown to millions in revenue over five years through organic word of mouth and community alone — no paid marketing, no growth team. This is our first marketing hire, which means two things: - There’s a ton of low-hanging fruit - You’ll have real ownership from day one Scope of the role: You’ll own the full customer lifecycle — from the moment someone signs up to the moment they become a repeat buyer and advocate. You’ll also act as the connective tissue of our community, helping mentors and mentees tell their stories and stay engaged. This is a hands-on, execution-heavy role. You’re not managing a team or writing briefs — you’re in the tools, building sequences, running experiments, and shipping weekly. Key Responsibilities: 1. Lifecycle & Activation (Primary Focus) - Own the signup → first session → repeat customer journey - Build, test, and optimize every email sequence across the funnel - Run A/B tests weekly - Identify drop-off points and fix them - Obsess over activation rates, time-to-value, retention curves, and LTV 2. Community & Content - Engage with mentors and mentees to surface stories worth telling - Curate and write the weekly newsletter - Keep the community active and connected across channels You’re not just sending emails — you’re building relationships that make the marketplace stickier. 3. Analytics & Experimentation - Build and maintain a growth dashboard - Run weekly reporting to the CEO - Surface insights that drive decisions - Identify gaps in the funnel and design experiments to close them Revenue Accountability Everything you do ladders up to revenue. We’ll set clear targets together — including activation rate, session volume, retention, and GMV growth — and you’ll have the autonomy to figure out how to hit them. Lifecycle is the first priority, but this role will have the opportunity to take on acquisition as well. Who You Are: - 3–5+ years in growth, lifecycle, or retention marketing at a startup or marketplace - Hands-on builder — you create and ship email sequences yourself, not spec them for someone else - Technically competent and comfortable with analytics tools and building dashboards - Experience in e-commerce, education/info products, or community business models is a plus - Operator mentality — you move fast, operate well with ambiguity, and get things done What Success Looks Like: i. First 90 Days - Audit every touchpoint - Rebuild core email sequences - Launch a live growth dashboard - Activation rate is measurably improving ii. First 6 Months - Own a repeatable experimentation cadence - Retention is trending up - Newsletter has a growing, engaged audience - Identify and execute on the 2–3 highest-leverage growth levers - Begin focusing more on top-of-funnel iii. First Year - Revenue has doubled - Clear roadmap for future investment (hiring, channels, product surface area)
