POSITION SUMMARY: APEN seeks to hire a team of outreach workers to participate in APEN’s civic engagement programs. This is a temporary non-exempt part-time position. This program’s goal is to increase the civic participation of low-income Asian immigrant communities in California. The Outreach Team Lead will be leading a team of Outreach Workers in talking to voters and convincing them to complete a survey on environmental justice issues that impact poor people, immigrants, and communities of color in California. This position is part-time, no more than 35 hours a week, starting as early as April 20th and ending in June 10th, 2026 with the exact schedule to be determined, tentatively scheduled for 3pm-9pm, Monday through Thursday. The hourly rate is $26. This position will not include benefits with the exception of sick pay and an internet and phone stipend based on hours worked at the end of the program. PRIMARY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Talk to up to 40 people per shift about issues facing low-income communities. - Supervise and schedule shifts for a team of outreach workers. - Complete daily reports based on results from the outreach team. - Provide support and troubleshooting for technology used by the outreach team. - Train outreach team on policy, technology, and canvass skills. - If able, support interpretation of team meetings and activities REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - Commitment to the mission and principles of APEN and environmental economic, racial, gender justice. - Fluent in English, Cantonese and/or Mandarin. - Strong motivation and adaptability, including the ability to work under pressure and deadlines. - Basic computer skills, ability to complete web forms. - Experience with running a phonebanking program, doorknocking outreach and supervision experience preferred. - Able to work our full canvass shifts Monday- Friday (5PM to 9PM) including additional weekend hours.
