Site Reliability Engineer
Rackspace Technology
• Work with customers and implement Observability solutions • Build and maintain scalable systems and robust automation that supports engineering goals • Develop and maintain monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health and performance • Proactively gather and analyze both metric and log data from systems and applications to perform anomaly detection, performance tuning, capacity planning and fault isolation • Collaborate with development teams to implement and deploy new features and enhancements, ensuring they meet reliability, security and performance standards • Collaborate with team members to document and share solutions • Maintain a deep understanding of the customer’s business as well as their technical environment • Identifying performance bottlenecks, identifying anomalous system behavior, and resolving root cause of service issues
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering/computer science or equivalent
- Senior-level experience with Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, Code level application support and troubleshooting
- AWS Infrastructure design, implementation and optimization experience
- Experience with observability solutions tools Splunk, Datadog, & SignalFx
- Experience deploying, maintaining and supporting software applications/services in the AWS ecosystem
- Proactive approach to identifying problems and solutions
- Experience writing code with one or more interpreted languages such as Python, PHP, Perl, Ruby, Linux Shell
- Experience with Terraform or Cloud Formation scripting
- Experience with configuration management tool Ansible
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication, critical thinking & analytical skills

Role Description We are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer to support the VA Innovation Unit in building and operating modern cloud platforms that power mission-driven applications serving Veterans and VA stakeholders. In this role, you’ll work alongside engineers and platform teams to improve deployment pipelines, automate infrastructure, and support secure cloud environments operating within the VA’s enterprise ecosystem. You’ll help maintain and evolve DevOps practices across development and production environments while supporting delivery teams operating within an Agile and DevSecOps model. What you'll be doing: - Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins. - Assist with provisioning and managing cloud infrastructure in AWS, including services like EC2, S3, and RDS. - Help automate infrastructure and environment configuration using Terraform or CloudFormation. - Support container-based application deployments using Docker. - Assist with monitoring and troubleshooting environments using tools such as Datadog and CloudWatch. - Write basic automation scripts using Python or Bash to improve deployment and operational workflows. - Collaborate with engineering teams operating in Agile development environments. • Deploy and maintain highly available AWS environments (EC2, ECS, EKS) using Terraform to ensure infrastructure is versioned and reproducible • Build and manage automated pipelines in GitLab CI or Jenkins, and use Ansible to eliminate manual configuration and drift • Manage the full lifecycle of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes • Perform administration and automated deployments across Linux and Windows environments using Python or Bash • Design, secure, and troubleshoot cloud networking components including VPCs, Subnets, Route53, and Load Balancers • Implement and support infrastructure for AI/ML workloads and utilize AI-powered tools to enhance system monitoring and automated incident response

Responsibilities *This position is 100 percent Remote* The primary responsibilities of a DevSecOps Specialist include: - CI/CD Pipeline Management: Selecting, deploying, and maintaining Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) tools and processes. - Software Maintenance: Ensuring the deployed software product is maintained throughout its lifecycle. - Security Integration: Embedding security practices into the development and deployment processes. - Observability: Implementing monitoring and logging to ensure the software’s performance and security can be observed and analyzed. - Collaboration: Working closely with development, operations, and security teams to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
