Estimator, Project Engineer

• Provides end-to-end technical and estimating support for an established engineering consultancy. • Works closely with Project Managers and senior engineers. • Supports the review of mechanical and HVAC drawings, system validations, quantity take-offs, tender preparation, and documentation management across multiple projects. • Reviews mechanical and HVAC drawings, specifications, and equipment selections. • Assists with HVAC system sizing checks and technical validations. • Populates and maintains technical data sheets and equipment schedules. • Assists in preparing and compiling Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals. • Reviews design documentation against applicable standards, codes, and project requirements. • Reviews mechanical documentation against other disciplines to identify scope gaps. • Supports responses to RFIs and RFQs in coordination with Project Managers and senior engineers. • Maintains accurate and consistent engineering documentation across projects. • Performs quantity take-offs from construction drawings using Bluebeam or equivalent software. • Measures and quantifies ductwork, pipework, plant, and associated HVAC components. • Prepares quantity breakdowns and schedules to support estimating and tender submissions. • Assists in preparing tender folders, schedules, and supporting documentation. • Organises and manages files and documentation from the estimating inbox and tender pipeline. • Populates project templates and standard forms accurately and consistently. • Standardises engineering and estimating documentation in line with internal processes. • Maintains document control and version consistency across projects. • Supports task tracking and workflow management within Monday.com or similar systems. • Provides general engineering and project administration support to Project Managers as required. • Other position-level duties as they arise.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Background in HVAC, mechanical services, or building services engineering.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction and mechanical drawings.
- Demonstrated experience completing quantity take-offs using Bluebeam or equivalent software.
- High level of competency in Microsoft Excel for schedules, quantities, and data analysis.
- Strong attention to detail with a structured and methodical approach to documentation.
- Confident written English communication skills, particularly for technical documentation and email correspondence.
- Comfortable working with repetitive data, templates, and structured processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to HVAC estimation or tendering processes is desirable.
- Familiarity with Simpro or similar construction ERP systems is advantageous.
- Experience using Monday.com or other task/project management platforms is a plus.
- Previous experience supporting Australian construction or HVAC projects is advantageous.
