Sr. Network Engineer, Optical Transport Red River is seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to join our growing team! The Sr. Network Engineer possesses expert-level knowledge in the design, implementation, the troubleshooting of infrastructure connectivity to include switches, routers, network access controls, optical transport systems, and ancillary devices. The Sr. Network Engineer shall provide implementation and operational support for environments containing fiber optic transmission system equipment (e.g. terminal optical line amplifiers and optical add/drop multiplexers and outside plant equipment to include fiber optic patch panels). The Sr. Network Engineer will conduct site surveys, develop engineering design packages and presentations to include Analysis of Alternatives (AOA), white papers and other engineering documentation. The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for identifying the customer’s business problems, desired outcomes and/or mission challenges and proposing solutions to those through the use of technology and achieving and maintaining OEM certifications in their area of expertise. Primary Position Tasks: - Provide technical leadership in the pursuit of complex telecommunications and related optical fiber network architecture projects. - Develop and refine network configuration documentation for customers and internal projects to help improve the quality of our security service delivery. - Maintain industry certifications as required to retain strategic OEM partnerships. - Work closely and collaborate with design engineering resources when scoping larger security related projects and programs. - Assist with vendor management (Telecom Carrier and Original Equipment Manufacturer) related to large telecommunication projects. - Assist pre-sales with customer engagements when applicable. - Assist in developing, improving, and automating our delivery methodologies. - Other business duties as assigned Minimum Education/Certification/Experience Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree - 7-10+ years related experience in a similar role. - Current professional-level OEM certifications or equivalent experience. - Must be a U.S. Citizen - Active Top Secret Clearance - Security+ or equivalent certification Preferred Education/Certification/Experience: - Previous Technical Lead, Senior Engineering, or Principal Engineer experience - Previous experience in a long-term enterprise engineer role Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, to include Visio. - Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) across technical and nontechnical teams. - Run projects autonomously or in large engineering team and project managers. - Time management and ability to manage multiple projects in parallel. - Demonstrates a high degree of creativity, foresight and mature judgment in planning, organizing and guiding extensive programs and activities of major consequence. - Develop additional technical and professional skills through career-track curriculum and self-learning experiences. - Understands business problems for customer base and is able to translate them into technical requirements. - Understands and articulates respective Architecture discipline and provides technical services in the form of design, assessment, and analysis. - Highly collaborative and able to drive to consensus, multiple competing ideas and solutions based on customer objectives. Essential Elements: When completing office tasks, this position requires remaining in a stationary position for multiple hours throughout the workday. Lifting of up to 75 lbs, and frequent walking is required during site visits. This position requires the ability to continuously communicate with co-workers throughout the day utilizing Red River or customer approved and/or provided communication tools and equipment. Special Requirements: This position will operate from a Red River office, customer facility, or in a remote capacity, with up to 50% travel to customer and partner sites (regional and national within U.S.). The incumbent must be able and available to travel via plane and car for extended periods of time, as required by business initiatives.
