Role Description The highly organized and goal-oriented Lead Technical Program Manager (you!) will help drive collaboration for cross-functional project teams and manage detailed plans to ensure efficient and effective delivery. You will follow proven project management methodologies (project plans, RAID logs, communications plans…) that will help the development teams achieve their objectives. You will work closely alongside engineering managers, developers, product managers, designers, and other key business partners. In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Technical Program Management which is a function within our engineering organization. This is a highly valued team of professionals who support the department's most critical cross-functional projects. The team has strong interpersonal connections, providing individuals an internal network for knowledge sharing within the job family. Responsibilities - Program Leadership: - Lead cross-functional teams in the planning, execution, and delivery of complex technical programs, ensuring alignment with business objectives. - Develop and manage program roadmaps, timelines, and resource plans, ensuring clear communication of key milestones and deadlines. - Define program scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders, ensuring they meet business needs. - Act as the primary point of contact for program stakeholders, providing status updates, risk assessments, and managing expectations. - Cross-functional Collaboration: - Collaborate with engineering, product management, design, and other teams to align on goals, timelines, and project dependencies. - Facilitate cross-functional communication to ensure teams are informed and aligned on progress and potential roadblocks. - Work with teams to define requirements, clarify priorities, and drive consensus on technical solutions and approaches. - Project Management & Execution: - Develop detailed project plans, track progress against milestones, and ensure timely delivery of program components. - Identify and mitigate risks, resolving issues that arise during the project lifecycle, and proactively communicate project status to leadership. - Technical Skills: - Architectural Literacy & Troubleshooting: - Ability to lead technical design reviews and proactively identify integration risks, data flow bottlenecks, or infrastructure dependencies across complex systems. - Systems Observability & Triage: - Hands-on experience using monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, New Relic) to assist teams in triaging production issues and facilitating high-quality technical post-mortems. - API & Data Literacy: - Comfortable exploring API documentation (Swagger/Postman) and using basic SQL to extract data for project validation, ensuring technical requirements align with actual system behavior. - Jira Skills: - Operational Efficiency & Reporting: - Practical experience configuring Jira project workflows, custom fields, and basic automation rules to eliminate manual status chasing and improve team velocity. - Proficiency in JQL (Jira Query Language) to build customized filters and dashboards that provide stakeholders with real-time visibility into sprint health, blockers, and delivery timelines. - Skilled in using Jira (including tools like Advanced Roadmaps or structure plugins) to map cross-team links, visualize the critical path, and manage capacity planning across multiple workstreams. Qualifications - 8+ years of experience in program management, with at least 3 years leading technical programs in a fast-paced, high-tech environment. - Proven experience leading large, cross-functional technical programs and projects involving multiple teams (engineering, product, operations, etc.). - Experience with both agile and waterfall project management methodologies and the ability to tailor approaches to the needs of the project. - Strong background in managing technical teams and understanding software engineering processes and technologies.
