Role Description The Engineering Documentation Specialist is responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining all technical documentation essential to engineering, manufacturing, and quality operations. This role ensures that engineering drawings, specifications, manuals, procedures, BOMs, and compliance records are accurate, properly controlled, and aligned with industry standards. - Create, manage, and maintain engineering documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, BOMs, manuals, test reports, compliance certificates, redlines, and engineering change notices (ECNs). - Act as the central communication point between Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure documentation updates are accurate, complete, and properly distributed. - Administer and maintain document control systems (PLM/ERP/DMS such as SAP, Windchill, Arena, Agile, or equivalent), ensuring accurate version control, revision tracking, metadata management, and approval workflows. - Review and verify documentation for accuracy, clarity, and compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry norms. - Support engineers and project teams by formatting, organizing, and preparing technical documents and templates in alignment with documentation standards. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of product updates, engineering changes, and new product introductions. - Process and coordinate Redlines and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) by ensuring proper review, approval routing, documentation updates, and controlled release to production and quality departments. - Maintain configuration management principles, ensuring documents, revisions, and drawing histories are traceable, archived, and accessible for audits or future reference. - Train staff in document control processes, revision control, and engineering change workflows to ensure consistent and standardized documentation practices across departments. - Ensure approved documentation is available to Manufacturing, including the latest drawings, work instructions, and specifications required for production. Qualifications - Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Technical Communication, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered. - Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in engineering documentation, document control, or technical writing in a manufacturing or engineering environment. - Familiarity with industry standards such as UL, CSA, IEEE, ISO 9001, and NEMA, especially as they relate to documentation and compliance. - Strong understanding of revision control, configuration management, and technical documentation best practices. - Experience working with PLM/ERP/DMS tools (SAP, Windchill, Teamcenter, Agile, Arena, etc.). - Ability to interpret and work with engineering drawings, schematics, and bills of materials. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to use CAD viewers or basic CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for document review. - Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail. - Effective communication and teamwork skills, capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. - Ability to manage multiple documentation tasks and change requests simultaneously while meeting deadlines. - Technical writing experience is a plus, especially in producing engineering or manufacturing documentation.
